Snowflake Project Documentation

published: December 10, 2018 — last modified: October 23, 2025

I wrote a short page about the snowflake project from the end of 2017. On the page, you will find a summary of the project and the link to the repository with all the required files.

Everything is open-source, including the design files for the hardware and a base version of the firmware for the project.

You need some experience if you plan to produce your own snowflake boards, but this is a beautiful and very rewarding decoration.

Plant Watering Sensor Files

Posted on 2017-08-23— Common, Projects

I finally published all design files and documentation for my plant watering sensor project. The package includes PCB layouts and firmware, but this is an advanced build: it needs SMD reflow, Atmel Studio and an Atmel-ICE programmer. If you're interested, please read the full post and the GitHub repo for details.

Logic Gates Puzzle 101

Posted on 2023-02-02— Puzzle

I created a logic-gate puzzle featuring a gated D latch: more artwork than optimized circuitry. I invite you to try decoding the hidden message—there are hints and links to gate and flip-flop basics in the post. I hope you enjoy the challenge; read the full article if you'd like to solve it.

19" Rack Fan Controller [1/2]

Posted on 2021-03-14— 3D Printing, Build

I migrated several servers into a compact 19-inch rack and reworked my Arduino Uno fan controller to fit a 1U RND enclosure. I show choosing the case, adding a rotary encoder and filter circuits, testing signals, and 3D-printing panels. Read the full post for STL files and build notes.

Three Ways to Integrate LED Light Into the Modular Lantern

Posted on 2023-01-29— 3D Printing, Build, Projects

I tested three inexpensive, easy methods to add LED lighting to my modular 3D‑printed lantern using USB power: reused LED modules, short 5V strips, and WS2812B RGB with a microcontroller. I share parts lists, soldering tips, diffuser advice, and firmware steps—read on for step‑by‑step instructions and printable models.
