Update to the Storage Boxes System

Posted on 2022-10-30 by Lucky Resistor

Last week I sent all subscribers a small update to my storage boxes system. There are new split boxes for the tall boxes (LR2052-300C-S) and a new extensive PDF catalogue with a great overview, but also all details of the models. I also added more models to the free set to provide better coverage of all the available series.

Today I also created a new download area for people who bought the full set. There you can download single models, small catalogues for series and ZIP files for series and the full set. All subscribers will get an email detailing how to access this new area.

New Split Boxes

The new split boxes are for the series LR2052-300C. This new series is therefore named LR2052-300C-S. With the models in this set, you can create tall boxes of any size.

A box with a grid size of 9×9 (540mm × 540mm) is shown below:

I created a YouTube video with detailed instructions on how to assemble split boxes:

PDF Catalogue

The new PDF catalogue replaces the online HTML version I offered before. I had many requests to provide the catalogue in an offline form, and hope you find it useful.

The catalogue is well-linked, so you can click on entries and jump directly to the section or model. For a start, there is a detailed table of contents with all sections of the catalogue. Most PDF readers can display the table of contents in the sidebar, so you can easily jump to another section and always see the big picture.

The document starts with the “Overview” section, where you find the series with an image of a typical box or element. If you click on one of these pictures, you jump to the start of the series section.

Each series section starts with a detailed list of all models, each with a picture and all detailed information below. At the end of the section are tables filtered for several criteria. If you, e.g. search for a box with a width of 180mm, click the section with the title “Width = 180mm” and jump to a table that contains the models that match these criteria.

More Free Models

On the Printables website, I added more free models. I thought the free set was too small to provide good coverage of all models with all the extensions I did to the project.

I added a small set of the remaining heights: LR2052-500C, LR2052-600C and LR2052-1400C.

Also, I added basic models with dividers: LR2052-100C-G3, LR2052-200C-G6 and LR2052-300C-G3.

I hope this project gets more useful with these additions.

I regularly publish new designs on Printables. The designs cover a wide range, from decorative items to mechanical parts. I provide models for a wide range of dimensions for most designs, similar to my storage box system.

This is my design of an elegantly swung hook to hang clothes or bags to a clothes rail. I designed it to provide a classic shape with a simple and functional profile.

This is my design of a dish that is ventilated from below. Objects placed in this dish dry fast, as there is an airflow possible from all sides.

It is a clever design that can be printed without support and creates a sturdy object despite all the holes.

I created a set of mechanical parts like hinges, brackets, washers, pipe clamps and cable organizers.

All of them are optimized to be strong with a minimal amount of material.
